The C60xx series of scalable ultra-compact Industrial PCs combines maximum computing power in what is currently the most compact format with a wide range of options for installation in the control cabinet. The innovative Beckhoff drive package offers a complete range of solutions for every application area. The integration into the motion control system of the TwinCAT automation software is thus optimized for highly dynamic positioning, extremely accurate machining, and efficient motion profiles. Developed by Beckhoff back in 2011 and established on the market, One Cable Technology (OCT) offers the machine manufacturer a space and cost-optimized alternative to conventional 2-cable wiring.

With TwinCAT 3, the latest version of the software, the Beckhoff portfolio results in optimally coordinated automation concepts that fulfill the basic principles of an open and highly scalable control system. TwinCAT 3 follows on logically from TwinCAT 2 as the latest development in the series, which is already redefining the world of automation technology as we know it. The way the complete control intelligence is implemented on a single software platform, divided into engineering and runtime, still represents the basis of the system. What’s more, both engineering and runtime can be flexibly extended by application-specific software modules, known as Functions, so that the TwinCAT system can be perfectly adapted to suit individual requirements.

The MX-System offers a tailor-made solution for every application. The materials and workmanship of all components are designed for maximum durability. This allows the MX-System to be used directly on the machine or system, even in demanding environments.

Full scalability of the vision system. All components are optimally matched to each other and can be combined according to the modular principle to suit the vision application. The flexibility and scalability make it easy for users to start their own vision applications, implement them efficiently, and expand them further. For simple integration, including into existing control systems, the unit is available as a complete solution consisting of a camera, illumination, and focusable lens.

With the XTS linear transport system, Beckhoff offers a proven drive solution in which magnetically driven movers move along a travel path of fully integrated motor modules. An Industrial PC with the TwinCAT automation software enables the independent control of the movers with individual motion profiles. This results in many system-related benefits: The transport system is ready for operation immediately after assembly, as power electronics and displacement measurement are included in the XTS motor modules and the movers are completely passive. Due to different geometries of the motor modules, both an open and a closed travel path can be created and the machine footprint can be reduced by individual track layouts. The XTS not only replaces conventional conveyor belts, but also enables an innovative design of the entire machine. With the flexible motion profiles, simple to highly complex processes can be realized and the entire manufacturing process can thus be optimized.

The XPlanar is a planar motor, which – like rotary motors – consists of multiple stationary, energized coils (in the tiles) and mobile permanent magnets (in the movers). In contrast to rotary motors, however, both the coils and the permanent magnets are arranged two-dimensionally on a plane. The XPlanar tiles are the electrically active part of the system, with the current in their coils causing the movers to float above them. The movers are electrically passive and particularly hard-wearing. The unique floating effect means any pollutants or contaminants from the goods being transported are not spread throughout the system, there are no emissions, and there is no wear caused by friction. The XPlanar system is a highly recommended new drive concept for all types of product transport in the manufacturing and processing industries. Beyond its basic transportation function, it can also perform even the most demanding positioning tasks with micrometer precision.
